Kirinyaga governorship candidate Anne Waiguru has urged voters in the county to turnout in large numbers and vote for Jubilee candidates in August 8 elections.
Speaking at a church service at ACK Ndiriti in Ndia on Sunday, Waiguru said Kirinyaga is a Jubilee zone adding that it was imperative for the residents to show their support to the party and President Uhuru Kenyatta by voting for Jubilee candidates in all elective seats.
Ms Waiguru further exuded confidence that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s planned campaign stop in the county on Wednesday would go a long way to unite all the Jubilee candidates and cause all the residents to unite behind the party.
She stated that by voting for Jubilee candidates, the residents will give President Uhuru Kenyatta majority numbers in the Council of Governors, Parliament and County Assemblies thus enabling him to implement his agenda for Kenya after the August elections.
She further revealed that President Kenyatta will be making a total of two visits to the county before the elections.
Waiguru was accompanied by her running mate Peter Ndambiri, campaign manager Gicobi Ndathi who is also the incumbent Joseph Ndathi’s brother, Ndia parliamentary candidate for Jubilee George Kariuki, Jubilee Kirinyaga branch chairman Muriithi Kangara among other leaders
In his address, Mr Ndathi called on the residents to rally behind Ms Waiguru in the Kirinyaga governorship race saying she I best suited to cause a turnaround in the living conditions in the county.
He said that Ms Waiguru’s overwhelming victory in the nominations is evidence of the unwavering support that she enjoys in the region, calling on his brother Joseph Ndathi who lost to Waiguru in the nominations to drop his candidature and support the former Devolution Cabinet Secretary.
Ms Waiguru last week traversed various areas in Mwea, Kirinyaga Central and Gichugu constituencies calling on residents to support her candidature and that of other candidates in the Jubilee party.
Ms Waiguru noted that with the high numbers that Jubilee has all over the country, President Uhuru Kenyatta’s reelection is a foregone conclusion.
