The Opposition Coalition CORD’s apparent cynicism regarding the August elections is taking root with seven months to the polls.

The issue came up during a mass voter registration campaign in Kibra, led by Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale last week.

In his address Khalwale seemed to be particular with the action they would take should they feel the elections have been rigged.

Khalwale said CORD will hold its swearing in ceremony in Tanzania if the elections are rigged, similar to what happened in Gambia where president-elect Adama Barrow was sworn in at the Gambian embassy in Senegal after the incumbent Yahya Jammeh refused to cede power.

Upon further negotiations, however, Jammeh agreed to vacate office, after he was granted asylum in Equatorial Guinea.
