Kenyans are furious over a job advert on Citizen TV requiring applicants to pay

Kenyans on social media on Wednesday expressed their disapproval of Royal Media Services (RMS) job advertisement, which appears on it’s TV station – Citizen TV.

Using the hashtag #RMSJobScam, majority of Twitter users hit out at Royal Media Services’ demand for job applicants to pay Ksh1,000 non-refundable fee to apply for the sales agents’ positions.

In the advertisements on Citizen TV, RMS is looking for 60 sales agents from the counties to be hired on a 8-month contract.

Interested applicants are directed to submit their application through Citizen TV online portal.

The portal also has instructions on how to make the payment.

Some social media users took to calculating rough estimates of how much RMS stands to gain at the end of the day, showing the company would actually make profits even if the agents did not bring returns.

Those aggrieved warned applicants not to make the payments calling on RMS to refund the amount they have collected from other applicants.

Royal Media Services has not officially responded to the claims.
